Great Business Development people don’t always make great leaders. Still, for that person who does combine the two, Haskell has the perfect job: Director of Business Development for one of the leading industrial design and construction companies as ranked by Engineering News-Record (ENR).

Put another way, you’re leading a skilled and well-supported team to provide solutions to our clients.

“We’d like to have someone who’s far enough in their career that they have Business Development experience specifically in the CPG category, but who also is coachable and moldable to the Haskell ways of doing things,” said Dave Bartels, Vice President of Planning and Development in Haskell’s Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Group. “We need somebody who has some experience in leading people, because the role is kind of a player-coach. They're going to be in negotiating agreements and interacting with clients, but they're also responsible for leading five or six other less experienced business development individuals.”

Haskell ranks as ENR’s No. 1 Food & Beverage Contractor for the second consecutive year. It’s also the No. 1 Green Contractor in Food & Beverage, the No. 1 Green Contractor in Manufacturing & Industrial and the No. 1 Green Design Firm in Manufacturing & Industrial.

CPG has led the way as Haskell has expanded rapidly, counting more than 1,850 team members across more than 20 offices across the U.S., Latin America and Asia-Pacific. In addition to the global headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, it has established Regional Operations Centers (ROCs) in Dallas, Texas, and Salt Lake City, Utah. The successful candidate has the opportunity to call any of a number of locations home.

“It’s an exciting opportunity in a dynamic company in a dynamic market,” Bartels said. “They're going to be doing business development in one of the strongest categories that Haskell brings to market, with the most diverse and broad set of engineers and project execution talent to provide solutions to our customers.”

Haskell is a leader in integrated project delivery and takes pride in its collaborative approach from concept through commissioning. Over the years, 80 percent of its revenue has come from repeat customers.

That said, the company has taken a disciplined approach to marketing and business development in recent years, and the results have been significant. The new director will lead a team of a half-dozen business developers distributed in different markets and have the support of a robust marketing team, a state-of-the-art customer relationship management (CRM) system and advanced analytics.

“We are worlds beyond where we were five years ago in regard to our business process, our quality of people, our broad and rich experience base and how we provide a great client experience,” Bartels said. “I want somebody creative and innovative who can push the organization. We want to embrace our continuous-improvement culture.

“I want us to continue to ask the tough questions and bring in new technologies and new business processes and new software and new ways of doing things, yet keep the same kind of personal touch and culture that we have with our client interactions today. I want less sales and more individual relationship development.”

In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.
