For a mechanical engineer ready to elevate their career, Haskell has the ideal next step.

A global leader in Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) solutions, Haskell has an opening for a Lead Mechanical Engineer in its St. Paul, Minnesota, office, where Design Director Greg Ohlhues says the company’s fast-growing future awaits.

“Ideally, we'd like to find somebody who is coming up on 15 years or so of experience and who is ready to take that next step into a leadership position,” Ohlhues said. “Licensure is a requirement, and one of the most important things for the person in this position is a mentoring and being a leader for young engineers. In essence, they’re developing the future of Haskell.”

The St. Paul office numbers about 35 designers and engineers, with plans to grow by five to 10 in the near term. The Mechanical team currently has nine members who work on both design-build and design-only projects, collaborating with colleagues across the disciplines.

Although there is some exposure to process engineering, the mechanical team works predominantly on HVAC and plumbing work on industrial facilities.

“We tend to get into a lot of industrial manufacturing sites, which could be Food & Beverage or Beer, Wine & Spirits, or it could be specialty chemical,” Ohlhues said. “We also get involved with federal work. The right person will have a passion about mechanical engineering, about HVAC, about plumbing, even process and process utilities. They've got to have the desire to see their team be successful.”

As a pioneer in design-build delivery, Haskell takes many of its projects from concept to commissioning, but Ohlhues wants the new mechanical leader to be comfortable with external, design-only relationship-building, as well.

“We want somebody who is going to be comfortable in social situations,” he said. “They’re going to be comfortable interacting with clients and garnering work for their people, creating relationships with clients to the point where clients are comfortable coming directly to them for maybe just mechanical operations. We want them to be a champion for their group.”

In addition to providing a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” It offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for every full-time team member.
