As it presses forward on its roadmap for regional expansion, Haskell has created an opportunity for an experienced and licensed structural or civil engineer to become its Director of Engineering for Civil Transportation in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Haskell has maintained an office in Charlotte, North Carolina, where it has based its Healthcare Design Division since acquiring FreemanWhite, a design firm with community roots that date back more than 100 years, in 2014.

Since announcing more than a year ago that it would strategically expand its regional presence across the United States, Haskell has steadily bolstered resources and services in Charlotte. It is now moving forward with plans to expand its Transportation Engineering operations in the North Carolina and South Carolina markets.

“We want to be a significant member of the community,” said Adam West, Haskell Vice President of Civil Infrastructure Design. “In other parts of the country, we have been large contributors to the communities where we have offices. One way we can do that in the Carolinas is by helping municipal and state governments with the expansion of the transportation infrastructure in the region.”

The successful candidate will be a North Carolina-licensed professional who will create and execute a strategic plan to leverage Haskell Civil Transportation capabilities in a new region. Responsibilities include building a team that will accomplish the following:

  • Create and cultivate key relationships with target client organizations.
  • Identify project opportunities early and facilitate go/no-go decisions in cooperation with Haskell leadership.
  • Grow a successful engineering office.
  • Recruit key project staff with design and project management capabilities.

“Experience in the design of roads, bridges, transportation and infrastructure facilities is important,” West said. “But it should also be someone who has spent time managing people and who is a contributor to the community.

“This is ideal for someone who is looking for an opportunity to build something they can put their own stamp on as far as the type of staff they hire, the culture within the group and the way we approach clients in a meaningful and impactful way.”

Haskell operates with the direction of six strategic pillars, the first of which is to “Provide Team Members the BEST Job of Their Lives.” Team members receive full health and insurance plans, wellness resources and meaningful work/life balance solutions, including paid time off, a 401k match and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which creates stock ownership for everyone who is full-time.
