For its more than 100 Permanent Craft Employees (PCEs), Haskell created its Field Technical Training (FTT) program, an innovative and industry-leading instructional method that helps them expand their versatility, perform to a set standard across job sites, attain certifications and progress in their careers.
Now, it is seeking an experienced trainer to fill the role of Craft Development Specialist, the person who makes the FTT program go.

Candidates should have field experience in construction, carpentry and mechanical work, including pipe fitting and pipe laying, and be comfortable delivering presentations. The successful candidate will spend about 75% of their time traveling to job sites, coordinating with the superintendent and instilling knowledge.
The FTT program takes a three-pronged approach to education, featuring videos to watch, textbooks to read and hands-on training to allow the skills to soak in. The wide-ranging curriculum includes courses on plan reading, construction layout, equipment operation, formwork, pipelaying, pipefitting and tilt-wall construction.
“We have extremely strong content,” McLauchlan said. “We just need to be able to have somebody to help facilitate. We want to make sure that we're affording those folks the opportunity to grow and develop into versatile craft people and the next set of construction leaders.
